The saying is (and I'm paraphrasing), "When your dreams become reality, you'll realize all the hard work (blood, sweat and tears) was worth it."
Well, I can say that is true. When you're working, striving, trying your hardest and pushing yourself like you've never pushed yourself before, you think at times "I'm never gonna make this work." But you keep clawing your way through the rough spots, the tough times, the stumbles and hurts, and you reach out one more time and, at last, you grab that top rung of the ladder. You look back down and think, "Wow, I really did it. I climbed over my fears."
But the worries and fears don't go away. You experience it anew with each new thing you want to try. But you keep going, moving forward one step at a time. Those times when you do stop and want to quit, want to give up, you just have to tell yourself, Just go for it. The worst that can happen is it doesn't work...you fail. But once you fail, as the saying goes, "There's nowhere else to go but up." If that happens, accept it. Just tell yourself, "So you failed. The way you did it didn't work. Now pick yourself up, hold your head up high and try it a different way, try it one more time because the next time may just be the ONE time everything works."
I'm stepping out on something that I have believed in for years and just never seemed to get traction on. I wrote the poem for Women are gems...precious, priceless, irreplaceable(R) years ago. Shortly after, I trademarked the slogan. I believed in it that strongly. I just didn't understand or know where to go with it from there. But I never did stop believing it was true of and for all women. So now, I just have to go for it and put my own words and thoughts into action and believe it for myself.
This is one of my babies and I'm presenting it to the world. It's always been on my website but I never really promoted it because of fear. What if people don't like it? What if people don't agree with it and see it as I see it? But enough is enough, no more self doubt, no more fear.
I can live with people not liking it or believing it. What I can't live with is my not trying and having this powerful, meaningful saying just sitting in a folder or in a drawer and wondering day after day, year after year, Could it have helped someone somewhere believe in herself and give her the courage to change herself or her world for the better? No, I couldn't live with that. Women everywhere need to realize they are special, they are loved, they are some body and they matter! And we're not hearing it enough, telling it to one another enough and saying it to ourselves enough. That has to change. Women are here. On this Earth. And. We. Matter. Whether it's your Mom, sister, cousin, wife, niece, in-law or best friend, let the women in your life know how much they matter to you and the world. https://shop.spreadshirt.com/womenaregems
It's been on my heart for years. From the scared little voice in my head, thank you for letting me share something so personal and so meaningful to me. Thank you.
